my background

DSC03447_edited.jpg

I've been a remedial massage therapist for the last 6+ years. My experience has been within professional clinics where I've received mentorship from highly skilled massage  therapists as well as other allied health professionals, most recently working alongside renowned Osteopaths. I've also been privileged to connect with an array of alternative medicine workers in my time. All have shared some mastery and insights into the healing arts.

Prior to massage therapy I was a Chiropractic assistant for many years where I began to understand the workings of body mechanics and connecting with people through their healing experiences. Having always worked within the allied healthcare industry and undergone my own courses of recovery, I've accumulated a body of knowledge and understanding for both clinical and metaphysical aspects of healing. This helps me guide and support others towards their healing potential and feeling their best.

my approach

DSC03042.jpg

I take an intuitive approach while combining sound clinical practice with alternative healing within my treatments. Hence holistic- inclusive of aspects of being. The aim is to create more space and ease within the body, unwinding poor patterns and encouraging better ones to improve how it moves or works for you.

I apply clinical knowledge of body mechanics, including functional testing and assessments, and use clinical techniques such as myofascial work, cupping, trigger pointing and muscle energy techniques. This is used to release and recondition muscles, restructure poor posture or imbalanced dynamics, tend to injury, adhesions or wear and address any issues within the soft tissues. My clinical scope extends to the lymphatic, circulatory and nervous systems- improving flow, pressure and rebalance with massage.

I complement this with alternative therapies to unwind and calm the mind + body + spirit into a relaxed sense of well being. I use somatic healing practices, herbal and mineral medicine, aromatherapy, meridian clearing, acupressure, reflexology, hands on reiki and breathe-work to engage with the deeper levels of the body's intelligence for self healing and regulation. In some cases uncovering and releasing stored trauma and unexpressed or held emotional energy within the body.

Each session is full of compassion and detailed attention to the client, designed around their individual needs and preferences to offer an effective yet enjoyable treatment. This includes follow up care in the form of education and recommendations that the client can take home and apply to help hold the changes needed to achieve improved balance and better health for themselves.

This practice cares about people and the planet so all measures are taken to be as eco-friendly as possible.

Thinking of the environment as well as reducing toxin loads Remedial Rhythms has opted for the following:

Massage sheets instead of heavy towels to reduce wash and dryer loads, no tox washing powder that supports reef restoration, no tox antibacterial disinfectant, glass bottled herbal lineaments and coconut oil, high quality ethical essential oils, buying Australian made and organic products where possible, locally made soy candles and organic incense, eco ink recycled paper business cards, recycled paper stock, refilling soap dispensers and jars of tea from the local whole-foods, reusing sterilised glass drinking cups and hand towels rather than disposables, up-cycled furnishings, energy saving light bulbs, keeping electricity use to a minimum and of course minimising any wastage and recycling.

Making small choices to create big change- sustainability in style!
